October 21, 2021 - Scholarship Reception at the Home of Anne Winckler
Austin Lawyers’ Auxiliary held the annual Scholarship Celebration last Thursday, October 21, 2021. This years’ recipient is Anna McMillan, currently attending UT LAW with a plan to specialize in Tax Law. She is the daughter of Dawn & MIck McMillan from Liberty Hill, Texas. Colleen Lockwood introduced and presented the scholarship to Anna. We are thankful to Anne Winckler for hosting this event on the terrace of her beautiful home. It was great to see everyone on such a lovely day.

About the ALA Scholarship
The Austin Lawyers' Auxiliary provides an annual scholarship to a female law student at the University of Texas School of law. We are proud to award a $2,000 scholarship each year. It is funded by our members who pay "annual" dues of $50. These dues only cover 42% of the scholarship amount each year.

A Little Bit about Katie...
Katie Dillard is a second-year law student at the University of Texas School of Law. She was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where she enjoys spending time with her family and sitting on the patio at Joe T. Garcia’s. Katie graduated from Texas A&M University in 2018 with degrees in accounting and finance. She plans to use those skills this coming summer as an intern in the transactional departments of a Dallas law firm, and hopes to continue that work upon graduation as a full-time attorney in one of those groups. At school, Katie is involved with the Student Bar Association as a 2L Representative, serves as an Articles Editor for the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law, and participates in the Texas Law Aggie Society as the chair of Professional Development. She is looking forward to mentoring first-year law students through organizations such as the Women’s Law Caucus and to continuing her involvement in pro bono initiatives such as the Texas Law Expunction Project. In her free time, she enjoys trying out new restaurants in Austin, listening to podcasts, and traveling.
